After the acquisition of the Resident Evil rights in December, we are proud to announce our second video game license. Capcom’s best selling game: Monster Hunter!
The monster hunt can begin
Monter Hunter is a video game series developed by the Japanese publisher Capcom. The main series has 14 games on all platforms. There are also about ten spin-off games.
The first game in the series was developed for Playstation 2 and released in March 2004 in Japan and in May 2005 in Europe. Set in a fantasy world, based on a hack and slash principle, the player is in charge of hunting all kinds of monsters. The hunter must hunt to acquire components that allow him to create or improve his weapons and armour to then hunt new, more powerful monsters.
A quick reminder of the Monster Hunter world
The player embodies a human who is assigned by the Hunters’ Guild a mission to protect a village under the threat of a monster. The player will participate in quests and sub-quests to fight monsters to improve his equipment and continue to advance. Two main classes of quests exist: village quests and guild quests. Within these two classes, there are three types of quests: gathering, hunting and capturing.
The special thing about quests in Monster Hunter is the timing, you have 50 minutes and not one more to finish the quest you are assigned.
The monsters
Now we come to the central point of the game: the monsters!
The monsters come in various shapes, sizes, forms and colours. There are two main categories: small monsters and large monsters. The large monsters are the ones the player will hunt, they are more powerful, numerous and attacking.
There are 18 main categories of creatures, six of which form a family called Wyverns: Herbivores, Lynians, Pisces, Neopterons, Carapaceons, Temnocerans, Amphibians, Leviathans, Pelagus, Flying Wyverns, Raptor Wyverns, Earth Wyverns, Fang Wyverns, Water Wyverns, Snake Wyverns, Dragons and one form of monster that is not known about, the Unknowns.
The Kami-Arts project(s)
A 2D concept already exists for this licence and it is ambitious. We want to put hunting in the spotlight, fans of the licence will appreciate it.
We will of course incorporate a monster into our project, but which one? You’ll see…
